Who Is Howard Benson?

Howard Benson is a music producer and is renowned for his work with artists including Kelly Clarkson, Flyleaf, My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace & many more. Howard was nominated for Producer of the Year in both 2007 & 2008 and has won GRAMMYs for his work on Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger (Best Pop Vocal Album, 2013) and Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do I)" (Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, 2013).

Advanced Voice Generation

Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier utilizes an advanced voice generation engine based on Joey & Howard’s unique “Sample & Hold” algorithm. It was designed to take your source audio and turn it into a lifelike clone, including variations in pitch and timing as you’d find in a real-world vocal double. It can create one double or many voices depending on how you set it up. Voices can be tightly locked together or modulated for more extreme results.

Enhanced Post Processing

Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier introduces more post processing features than you’ll find in any other multiplier plugin. Whether you’re working with a single voice, a group vocal performance, or really any other audio that could benefit from doubles or layered performances, the hard part is never creating the copy - it’s always deciding what you do with it after.

Rather than requiring you to copy your settings or create a new signal chain from scratch, Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier sends your duplicated signal through some of the most frequently used post processing in vocal mixing. Each stage of processing has been optimized to work best in this configuration, creating an easy-to-use, consistent mixing workflow

User-Friendly Controls

Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier is packed with straightforward user-friendly controls like Pitch Mod Depth & Timing, High & Low Tone, Voice Count & Stereo Width and even single knob Saturation, Delay, and Reverb modes.

But don’t be fooled by these simplistic controls, these effects sound rich and go DEEP. Select from 3 Vocal Density options, 4 types of Saturation, 6 Delays, and 4 Reverbs - plus everything else listed below.

Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier is broken into two main sections - Voice Generation and Post Processing.

The Voice Generation section of the plugin is responsible for taking your source audio and turning it into a lifelike clone, including varieties in pitch and timing as you'd find in a real-world vocal double. It can create one double or many depending on how you set it up. Doubles can be tightly locked together or modulated for more extreme results.

The Post Processing section handles everything else - vocal density, saturation/warmth, compression, delay, reverb, and output gain. Use as much or as little as you want to get the group vocal results you desire!

Sweet Saturation

Start off in the sweet spot with a compressor geared up for great vocals! This compressor comes packed with Grit and Tube Warmth - sure to add some heat, sweetness, and saturation to any voice

• Set the optimal input level with an easy to find Sweet Spot

• Start compressing instantly with the Comp knob

• Push your vocals harder post-compression with the Gain knob or take out the guesswork with AutoMake-Up gain

• Colorize your sound with some Grit and/or Tube Warmth for a dirtier, denser tone

Hearing Double

Multiply your results with half as much effort. Achieve a luscious, doubled vocal when you're without a double track.

• Use the Amount knob to determine just how much of that doubled vocal to cut through

• Set the Offset knob to add some variety and complexity to your sound

• Remember - nobody expects a perfectly doubled vocal. It's those slight variations that make it all work!

Expressive Echoes

Tempo-synced or Milliseconds? Mono or Stereo? How many repeats? With this vocal-centric echo unit, your delays can dance around your vocals in any manner you'd like

• Set the number of repeats and level of your echo simultaneously with the Amount knob

• Keep those repearts right down the center or let them bounce around in stereo

• See your exact delay times (in ms or tempo-based measurements) with the digital readout

• Add some character to your sound with LoFi delays

• Fully automatable for the ultimate vocal delay throws

High Voltage

All good things must come to an end, but by the time you're done, you'll have a high octane vocal ready for release.

• Use the optional Limit circuit to catch any stray peaks as your vocals pass onto the next part of their path

• Change your signal path's routing with a Pre FXswitch for when you want to set levels before the effects in the chain

HOWARD BENSON & MIKE PLOTNIKOFF: CONTROLHUB EXPANSION PACK

The first of its kind mixing tool

ControlHub is an all-inclusive mixing plugin that allows you to load entire signal chain-based expansion packs from your favorite mixers and recording studios. Each preset is a complete emulation of the original hardware or software signal chain.

The sounds:

Modeled emulations of the analog hardware chains used on some of the biggest-selling rock albums of the last 20 years are exclusively available in this Howard Benson and Mike Plotnikoff expansion pack.

Working out of West Valley Recording Studios in LA, Howard and Mike have built this expansion pack using all analog gear which includes individual traces of the Neve 8058 Mark 1 from Studio A as well as chains for drums, guitars, and everything in between needed for a punchy rock mix.

This expansion pack has a total of 153 presets.

• CLA Album Tone Presets : This bank has 20 Guitar presets, and are solely focused on album guitar tones from CLA's best known work. These are full signal chain presets.  

• CLA Creations Presets : This bank has 30 Guitar presets, specifically created by CLA using the Tonality - Howard Benson Plugin. 

• CLA Bass Presets : This bank has 14 Bass presets, solely focused on Bass tones from some of his most popular mixes. These are full signal chain presets.  

• A few word's from CLA on his pack, “Well for me guitars are a very important part of my life, it’s one of my main menu items I deal with on a daily basis. My mix ready sounds are created from my board. I take tones from the mix, tones from the mix is actually as simple as that, I took guitar sounds that I made off mixes from various huge artists on big records and then we took those sounds and converted them into presets. So this gives you the exact sounds I used in the mix, captured as a preset.

• What makes the mix ready part my pack so exciting? Well you're using my full analog signal chain that I use for all my mixes. Which means my SSL console, my Pultecs on the mix bus, my Focusrite Red on the mix bus and the eq’s on the console. Also certain presets will have my vintage Urei LA3 compressors on it, so you get an analog chain which is hard to digitize, so I'm very excited that when I compared between what I created and what the preset was, it was virtually identical”.
